HCCI engines are studied as particular examples of practical applications of autoignition. we have developed a Monte-Carlo simulation code to solve a reduced PDF transport equation that is for situations that are homogenous in the large scale. The code uses a detailed chemistry. In order to estimate the initial condition accurately, a sequential simulation procedure was devised which consists of a 1-D engine cycle simulation and a 3-D CFD analysis. The result from parametric studies shows that the cmobustion phasing and duration can be prediceted with adequate accuracy.
