The problem of high altitude relight is important from a practical point of view because it concerns flight safety. From a design point of view, it would be good to be in a position to predict by CFD the success of flame establishment following localised deposition of energy. We are looking at turbulent diffusion flame establishment with the elliptic CMC method, where special attention to the spatial diffusion term must be given.
