MPhil Success leads to PhD in Earth Sciences

The Nuclear Energy MPhil Programme has a wide range of nuclear modules to choose from.  I benefitted from being taught by physicists and chemists covering the various technical aspects of nuclear power.  Other high quality lectures included nuclear safety, energy market and nuclear policy.

The research project part of the MPhil Course gave me a flavour of world-wide problems and enabled me to consider solving problems in nuclear industry and the energy sector in general.  I was fortunate to receive funding from the International Doctoral Studentship Programme through applications and interviews, whilst benefitting from advice from academics on the MPhil Course.

I am particularly interested in nuclear waste immobilisation and I am now at the Department of Earth Sciences as a research student.  The Nuclear Energy MPhil programme gave me the enthusiasm and ability to take this step in furthering my studies through a PhD.

4th Year Project Deadlines

 May 2017
Each student submits two copies of Final report plus an extra copy of their technical abstract, plus their log book or electronic equivalent to Group Centres by 4pm.
