Flow instabilites & sound generation

Flow instabilities leading to sound generation is of great practical interest
in several problems from noise radiated in aircraft jets to noise from vacuum
cleaners and hand driers.

We recently developed a novel technique to separate acoustic and aerodynamic
components from fluid-flow equations. Using this technique, we will analyse
aerodynamic and acoustic particle trajectories in jets. The acoustic and
aerodynamic particle trajectories would help provide better physical insight
into flow instability and sound generation process.

4th Year Project Deadlines

 May 2017
Each student submits two copies of Final report plus an extra copy of their technical abstract, plus their log book or electronic equivalent to Group Centres by 4pm.
